  1. Stupid question #1: How many MIT graduates did it take to determine that a “dart” was preferable to a “brick” for aerodynamics?

    Stupid question #2: Is there any threat out there today, save perhaps some ET from a far away galaxy, that we really need this weapon for? (I mean seriously, what is wrong with good old HE?)

  2. Baby steps, Craig, baby steps. It’s a first effort that shows something is possible. From an Engineering standpoint (and I is a injuneer) there are question that research still needs to answer that will determine if this path is one they can continue to travel. One of the biggest I see, from a Naval point of view, is the power requirement. As it stands now the thing would need a dedicated reactor to power the thing. Another large question is the size of the monster. At present, only increasing field flux will allow the thing to get smaller, but without superconduction, that will be a hard thing to manage.

    This will be an interesting project to watch.
