I had lunch today with a friend of mine. He’s a vet of WWII. He served as the Executive Officer of an artillery battalion in the Battle of the Bulge. Pretty interesting. I’ve known him for a year or two now and only today learned that he had been wounded. In fact, he mentioned that there was still shrapnel inside him. The doctors warned him that it could dislodge and puncture a major organ, killing him. In effect, he was living on borrowed time.
He’s been living on borrowed time for 64 years. Not bad.
