  1. I was a new LT on staff duty. I came back from checking the motorpool to find the puzzled NCO saying that division had called, announced “Lariat Advance” and hung up. I called DIV back and they refused to tell me what it was without a secure phone. Three hours or so pass before my BN CDR comes to work and I tell him the story. He calls DIV and is told that we are supposed to be alerting to provide deployment support (live fire ops) to the local highly trained airborne infantry force stationed in Savannah, GA. The CDR calmly explains that we have been off that duty for months and perhaps he should have called the correct battalion before hanging up.
