Always thought it was surprisingly good looking airplane for how ugly it was. As usual when you post on A6s, I try to find a picture of the painting “six packs for Quaddafi” (however you spell it), but cannot.
Miss the distinctive sounds of them. Touch and gos all night from daguallo (spelled wrong probably)bay.
I’m not sure an update of the design with new engines wouldn’t have been a good idea.
You’re describing the A-6F, which had all new electronics, and a pair of non-afterburning F404 engines. Also added an extra stores station on each wing to carry AMRAAM.
