DOJ's 'Operation Choke Point' May Be Root of Porn Star Bank Account Closings – Hit & Run : Reason.com

Under “Operation Choke Point,” the DOJ and its allies are going after legal but subjectively undesirable business ventures by pressuring banks to terminate their bank accounts or refuse their business. The very premise is clearly chilling—the DOJ is coercing private businesses in an attempt to centrally engineer the American marketplace based on it’s own politically biased moral judgements. Targeted business categories so far have included payday lenders, ammunition sales, dating services, purveyors of drug paraphernalia, and online gambling sites.

How long until the DoJ decides gunmakers should be targeted? Or maybe YOUR line of business?

The federal government is simply out of control, and unaccountable to the American people.

  1. This should be to the surprise of absolutely nobody. Look what was done to the tobacco industry. A legal industry, demonized and degraded by the very government it paid plenty of taxes to. I was in NC and watched families which had farmed their land for three centuries lose everything because of the persecution of their own government. Yes, gun manufacturers, and ammunition manufacturers are on the list. As are any conservative organizations. All perfectly legal, to be treated as outlaws and subject to the abuse of power of a runaway federal government.

Accountability may have to come at the business end of a flash suppressor, pointed at the temples of those responsible for the erosion of liberty and destruction of our Republic.

    Enemies, domestic.

  2. URR:

I have been saying for some time now that the Federal government has become an enemy of the constitution. Invest in metals: lead, brass and gold.

  3. Just ask McMillan about what they went through with their banks a couple years ago, and tell my that the Federal Government isn’t already targeting them.
