“…It’s the confiscation of these types of weapons…”

And so it begins.

Ed Schultz, MSNBC commentator:

Write all the feel good laws you want, it’s the confiscation of these types of weapons that counts and will have an impact.

We are the Constitution and we as a people can change whatever we want.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel weighs in.  He of the city with the nation’s strictest gun laws, and 500 murders and many thousands of shootings, virtually all committed with illegal guns by criminals on the streets.
“It’s time that we as a city have an assault weapons ban, it’s time that we as a state have an assault weapons ban, it’s time that we as a country have an assault weapons ban”
Chicago’s Police Chief, whose job is to uphold the law, seems frustrated with that pesky Constitution.
“People hide behind the 2nd Amendment…”
Chief McCarthy isn’t one for irony, apparently.  He is the Police Chief of a city where owning a gun is all but illegal.  And the numbers of murders committed with LEGAL firearms is effectively zero.   Refusing to admit that drug gangs and thugs are in fact criminals, and will not be affected at all by these new and draconian proposals to infringe on the law-abiding, McCarthy has this gem for us:
“Does anybody think it’s right, the amount of gun violence that exists in this country? What we’re doing isn’t working.”
So let’s restrict the guns from the law-abiding.   Using your city as a model of the success of gun control legislation.  What a swell idea.
Don Lemon, CNN anchor, had this wildly inaccurate and illogical rant in which he considers someone who steals guns to have “access”, in which is contained this emotive and imbecilic assertion:

We need to get guns and bullets and automatic weapons off the streets. They should only be available to police officers and to hunt al Qaeda and the Taliban and not hunt elementary school children.

As if weapons owned by law-abiding citizens are “on the street”, and those people are the psychopaths that committed the terrible crimes in Sandy Hook, and elsewhere.
Let’s not continue to deny or rationalize what the gun-grabbing Democrats want to do.  Nor ignore the disdain they have for the Constitutional safeguards that have until now prevented such measures against a free people.  People like Ed Schultz are their spokesmen, preparing the American people for harsher and more restrictive laws which will have negligible effect on the violence they purport to stop, but instead will leave Americans defenseless against criminals, and against their own government.
If they are successful, none of our liberties will be guaranteed by anything but the benevolence of our rulers.   We have examples of how that turns out.   We have Durantys aplenty, already.

  1. The stupidity of comments out there is utterly astounding. This country has utterly failed to teach its youth how to think. When the facts we know about gun control are ignored, then we know we have a very serious problem in this country.

  2. Those who have taught our children have succeeded in teaching just what to think. Which, it can be said, was the intent all along. Indoctrination instead of education.

  3. When I taught high school American History, I taught that the 2nd Amendment was about the People being able to resist an oppressive Government. It wasn’t about duck hunting.

No wonder my collegues didn’t socialize with me.

  4. Chicago Police do NOT have a very good reputation in the LE Community here in the Upper Midwest. They are very obviously the Chicago Machine’s Police Department.
