Soyuz launch tonight

I’ve been following @Astro_Suni, astronaut Sunita Williams as she prepares for tonight’s Soyuz launch to the International Space Station. She will be part of the crew for Expedition 32, then commander of Expedition 33. They don’t change out an entire crew, just three people at a time. Better knowledge sharing and much safer to not have an all n00b crew. Joining her are Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Aki Hoshide and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko.

She’s been tweeting about a good run in the open air, a hearty breakfast of fresh eggs, a short haircut, saying goodbye to family and co-workers. I’m betting there’ll be a good hot shower, too, because she won’t have another one for months.

Godspeed, Sunita, Aki, and Yuri. I’ll update this with the launch video when it’s available. Launch time: 10:40 p.m. EDT.

Updated and bumped.
