RIP, SPC Jason Edens

SPC Jason Kyle Edens, age 22, of 13th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armor, was laid to rest in Franklin, Tennessee today. He had been wounded in Laghman province, Afghanistan and died in Bethesda, Maryland on April 26. Among his awards were the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Marksmanship Qualification Badge-Expert with Rifle.

The Patriot Guard and the Tennessee community lined the funeral procession route to pay their respects. Fellow Hostage Guy gave me permission to share these photos from today.

God bless this soldier and comfort his family and friends. I can’t find words enough to say thank you for this young man. Thank you, city of Franklin, for showing honor and gratitude. Well done.

  1. Honor done in a distinguished manner. Going home, going home. Thank-you for your sacrifice SPC Edens. Regards

  2. Thanks for posting Roamy and X. That picture was taken about 30 minutes before the procession came, I can tell you that the number of flags and people lining the road more than doubled that which the picture portrays. A very solemn and honorable tribute by the Franklin community.

  3. Franklin really turned out to honor a local hero who gave his life for our nation.
