Now it’s personal

I knew cutting $487 billion dollars out of the defense budget was boneheaded, shortsighted, pick your adjective, but now it’s personal. The DoD Space Test Program (STP) is on the chopping block. Without the STP, I know a couple dozen research and development experiments would never have gotten off the ground. I know of millions of dollars in benefits to both NASA and DoD programs that came from these experiments, and who knows what for classified missions. They handled the transition through the end of the Shuttle era and had been working with all the resupply vehicles and the commercial cargo carriers to keep science on ISS going. They have had some kind of science experiment on every ISS expedition going back to September 2000. And it will end on September 30, 2013 as the budget stands now. Grumble!
