Obama Cuts Hazard Pay for Soldiers Serving in Harm’s Way | The Gateway Pundit

They will now only get the $7.50 daily proration for the individual days they are actually serving in harm’s way instead of for the whole month. (DOD)

Most of the commenters over at The Gateway Pundit are in full outrage mode. Me? Meh. First, it makes sense. Second, this was mandated by Congress as part of the 2012 appropriation.

The real question is, is the income tax exclusion still non-prorated? That’s a pretty chunk of change.

    1. You don’t have to come under hostile fire. You have to be in theater.

For instance, under the old rules, a C-130 crew flying into Iraq or A-stan that set down, dumped a load of palletized cargo, and flew out after 15 minutes qualified for an entire month’s IDP. Under the new rules, they’d qualify for one day.
