U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said late on Wednesday the United States would stop taking the lead role in combat operations before the end of 2013 and step into a supporting role as it winds down its longest war.
He said U.S. forces would remain “combat-ready” but would largely shift to a train-and-assist role as Afghan forces take over responsibility for security ahead of a 2014 deadline for full Afghan control.
Just as in Iraq, the default Obama administration strategy is “Cut and run,” just as it has been for Democrats for two generations.
And don’t you think maybe telling Afghanistan before announcing it might have been appropriate?
Afghanistan is a mess. I don’t have all the answers. But I can tell you this, the half measures adopted by the administration have almost made failure a self fulfilling prophecy.
I didn’t think we had much chance of turning Trashcanistan into much of anything. With the way the Obummer is going, we don’t have any chance at all.
