War News Updates: Why Is President Obama Willing To Share U.S. Missile Defense Secrets With Russia.

The SM-3 missile system is probably one of America`s secrets that no one (in my opinion) should have … even our allies. It plays a crucial role in the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, and it has a proven and successful track record.

Ugh. Look, he’s the President. He gets the final say on what’s classified, and how. So despite any language in the defense authorization, he’s got a right to disclose that information.

Having said that, any information shared with Russia will almost instantly be in the public domain. How damaging that would be to our security, I don’t know. But I suspect it won’t be good.

The SM-3 is the most effective arrow in our BMD quiver right now. Why give anyone information that may allow them to develop countermeasures?

Russia is a fading, failing power. Caving to them in a diplomatic maneuver is stupid. Their only real power these days is in manipulation gas supplies to other nations, and with the boom in gas exploration and exploitation, that power is rapidly waning.  Screw ’em.

Of course, it’s not like this administration has a great record on deep strategic thinking…

  1. This is what you get when your NSA is a fracking political hack who has zero experience in any field related to defense, intelligence or what have you. And the idea that the president could ignore a Congressional law in order to close a deal in the foreign policy arena is absurd. Congress may not be able to say who the President can and cannot talk to in the foreign arena, but they can pass a law restricting what the President can use give away as part of an agreement. Its right there in Article II of the Constitution (a document I doubt that the so-called Constitutional scholar has ever actually read).

  2. I know too many men that are spinning in their graves right now. If I were Obama, I would not sleep too soundly, I think the White House will soon be seriously HAUNTED.

Bill, I wish Presidents would learn that the Constitution of the United States of America, applies to them, too. Your so-called Constitutional Scholar, I don’t believe he even knows the document exists and does apply to them!
