By the end of this month, the final US troops will redeploy from Iraq, ending a campaign that lasted nine long years. Many of the readers, and even some of the contributors here (but not me) have served in Iraq during this struggle. Kudos to you, gentlemen.
Iraq has a chance, a slim one, to become a functional, stable society. Let us hope they seize that chance. The blood of so many of America’s finest has been spilled in the hope that it will be so.
President Obama will soon begin to tout his success in ending the Iraq War, and claim that as a reason for his reelection. He’ll be lying, as usual.
Remember this, and share with your friends and neighbors- the agreement to remove US troops from Iraq by the end of 2011 was negotiated and signed by the Bush administration.
