Carl Gustav

Somewhere in the archives I’ve got video of the Rangers at the range shooting Carl Gustav 84mm recoilless rifles. The Rangers have used them for years. Now it appears some regular infantry are starting to tote them around Afghanistan. Makes sense. The Marine infantry has carried the similar SMAW for over twenty years. It fills a nice niche between a disposable LAW type weapon and the full up (and very expensive) Javelin anti-tank missile.

Craig’s talked about recoilless rifles here a few times too. Maybe after he finishes up his history of US artillery, he’ll work one up on RRs.

Not a bad video, but it needs more shootey/splodey.
