Happy birthday, Army

Roamy here.  On this date in 1775, the Continental Army was formed.

Two years later, the original 13-star version of the Stars and Stripes was officially adopted as the flag of the United States.

I am proud of my city – the mayor of Huntsville has declared this Armed Forces Week.  SFC Rebecca L. Willams of the NCO Academy and SPC Miguel A. Perez of the HHC 59th Ordnance Brigade were honored yesterday as NCO and the Soldier of the Year, respectively.  Here’s CSM Ricky Yates speaking about the importance of the NCO.  Tomorrow the Army Materiel Command opens its new headquarters on Redstone Arsenal (read the interview with the AMC chief of staff).  Thursday is the uncasing ceremony for the U.S. Army Contracting Command and Expeditionary Contracting Command.

I wish I had something profound to say, but I’ll just say thank you and have a good day.
