Oh, for cryin’ out loud, can’t the Diversity Bullies even check wikipedia and read about Project 100,000?

The same damn ideology keeps coming up with the same damn bad ideas. Troops in the program were almost untrainable, were killed at higher rates than draftees or other volunteers, were damn near impossible to get rid of, and not capable of capitalizing on their veteran status when they were discharged.

We still had dregs of this Moron Corps on active duty when I enlisted. Their own lives were miserable, and they made a lot of other peoples lives miserable as well…

  1. This stupidity does a disservice to everyone. Lowering standards on acceptance changes the makeup of the military which will negatively effect the success of outcomes at all levels and in all directions.

Pushing people into positions where they will not be able to perform academically or mentally is unsafe and dysfunctional. Pushing women into places where they simply can’t perform physically and don’t belong for their own safety as females is dangerous to them and to our nation.

This stuff is insane. Period. Why can’t we just say NO?

  2. We had one or two on Courtney, although they were well behaved and did OK. On Sylvania we had several, all Black, alas. Two ended up being put out on BCDs, two others on General, Less than honorable. And one or two on General, Honorable Conditions. The honorables were at least trying, but simply couldn’t keep up mentally. The rest reacted very negatively to the fact they couldn’t keep up mentally. All were on the Deck Force, the place for those with little future.

“Moron Corps.” Heh. So insensitive of you Brad 🙂

    1. I know. That was after my time, but the sentiment is the same as what we felt about it.

  3. I read the weasel zippers article and it’s not clear that this is definitely about lowering standards. They do mention ‘validating’ those standards but I really can’t imagine what for unless your view is right.

They also mention allowing women into combat roles which I don’t have a problem with *if* they meet the standards.

If they are really weasel wording (yay! in joke) what is essentially a lowering of standards for minorities I think that’s a remarkably bad idea. Bad. Really bad. It opens up all sorts of risk for these people and anyone who works for them (which really could be anyone in the military). It leaves the country more vulnerable. It will help the negative discrimination to grow. It will probably also cost a fortune.

Sounds bad with the 100,000 too. Some of those people would have been good but swamped by the others.

More minorities in the forces could be done by increasing marketing to those groups but one can imagine the media circus that would generate. The only real way is to improve the capability of those minorities to reach the standards. This goes into complex, long term problems which politicians do not face.

    1. At the entry level, the racial composition of forces is actually pretty much a reflection of the country. Not a mirror image, but no gross distortions, either.
