X-47B

Roamy here.  From War News Updates, the X-47B was seen flying around Edwards AFB.

The X-47B is a carrier-based, long range, unmanned combat aerial vehicle.  I read on Wikipedia (so take it with a grain of salt) that it’s to be armed with 2 JDAMs.  The flight today was 29 minutes with a top altitude of 5,000 ft.  More flights are planned at Edwards, with sea trials in 2013.

  1. 2 JDAMs is a lame load. Generally, when fixed-wing aircraft check on, you either need nothing, or more than two bombs; hence the popularity of Strike Eagles and Warthogs.

    1. The X-47B isn’t really designed for CAS.

Think more of a dedicated SEAD platform. And if it can carry 2 JDAMs, that means it can carry 8 SDBs, which give it fair standoff from a anti-aircraft battery.
