  1. I write like Dan Brown (The DaVinci Code). Or Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club). Or maybe David Foster Wallace (never heard of him, so don’t know which of his books is well-known). I figure I’ll forgo their product if it comes up with a different answer for each thing I write. Hopefully, though, I write better as I write more….

  2. I write like Cory Doctorow. I have no ideaif that’s good, bad or funny. The only place I’ve heard of the man is on Jerry Pournelle’s website on the Google copyright stuff.

  3. Cory Doctorow is a really good author, QM.

I put in some bits of a novel I’ve been working on for a while. Prologue gave me Arthur C. Clarke, first half of Ch1 gave me Palahniuk. Second half of Ch1 also gave me Palahniuk. A random bit from the middle of Ch3 or so gave me Harry Harrison. (I’m actually a little pissed about that, since I found the Stainless Steel Rat to be virtually unreadable.) Some good combat scenes (or so I’ve been told) from Ch9 gave me Raymond Chandler, though, so I guess that’s okay.
