Theo Spark: Video: EA-6B Prowler

Theo had this short clip of the EA-6B and I figured I’d augment it with a vid of a ¬†Prowler on a VFR low level route.
I grew up at NAS Whidbey, home of all the Navy’s active duty Prowler squadrons. When I moved there in 1973, the EA-6B (the electronic warfare variant of the Grumman A-6 Intruder attack plane) was still new and exotic. Now the Prowler is winding its career down, slated for replacement by the EA-18G electronic attack version of the F/A-18F Super Hornet.

  1. I was working at NAS Whidbey as A Grumman Rep in 1966 and 1967. I was the Field Rep in charge of setting up NAS Whidbey to accept the new west coast site for the A-6A’s. Bothe AMD and IMTD. Loved working there and living in Oak Harbor. After leaving the A-6 Engineering group went to the EA-6B program for the next 23 years. Grumman was a great company to work for.
