Funny thing is, I’m deathly afraid of heights, but it never bothered me when rock climbing or rappelling.
Brad, I had the same problem. I could be on a rock face, or in an aircraft and didn’t bother me. The first time on got on a man lift on a construction project (those things with a bucket similar to a cherry picker, but are self-propelled) I was scared to death.
I also get a bit nervous on an airline flight.
I think it’s a control issue. We’re confident when we are in charge, but take away the ability to control the situation and our attitude changes quickly.
